Puna de Atacama
Photo Tour

Argentina

Puna, Argentina, boasts a surrealistic natural landscape that seems plucked from the realms of dreams. In this high-altitude region, where the air is thin and the landscapes are otherworldly, one can find extraordinary natural wonders like the Cono de Arita. Rising like an enigmatic sentinel from the desert floor, the Cono de Arita is a perfectly symmetrical volcanic cone that appears almost unreal against the stark backdrop of the arid Puna landscape.

Another captivating feature of Puna is the Pomez Fields, a vast expanse of ethereal white rock formations sculpted by the forces of nature over millennia. These formations resemble a ghostly moonscape, with their eerie shapes and surreal textures. It's as if the Pomez Fields were created by the imagination of a surrealist artist, inviting photographers to capture the haunting beauty of this natural wonder.

You'll discover the mesmerizing Ojos del Mar, a series of azure-blue spring-fed pools surrounded by the desolation of the desert. These tranquil oases create an enchanting juxtaposition with the harsh, barren landscape, inviting photographers to capture the oasis's serene beauty.

Furthermore, the Desierto del Diablo is a vast, windswept expanse of salt flats and rugged terrain that feels like a scene from a science fiction film. Its desolate and surreal atmosphere, punctuated by dramatic salt formations and eerie solitude, adds another layer of otherworldly charm to Puna's already surreal landscape, making it a captivating subject for photographers seeking the extraordinary.

Puna's surrealistic nature, with its stark contrasts, mysterious geological formations, and unique high-altitude ecosystem, makes it a destination unlike any other, where reality and dreams converge in a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow.
